I am writing a cv and know what people will think. I had my child at 17, just after leaving school. i am now 26 and have worked at the same company since i was 19 working my way up. how do i make it sound good to an employer?
      Answer1:i think its great youve been with the same company, it shows commitment, being a team player.being a teenage mum is not uncommon, dont worry too much about it.
      Answer2:You should not put that you are a single parent on your C.V. It is a summary of all of your qualifications from your previous work experience and education. It is commendable that you have worked at the same company for 7 years, and this would be a valuable asset to another company. It makes you look committed and hard-working. It also looks good that you were successful enough in your positions to be promoted. The fact that you have a child may come up during the interview, but it is illegal for an interviewer to ask about your marriage status. He cannot discriminate against you for becoming a parent at 17. To be honest, it could easily look like you had a baby at 18. All he needs to know is what would make you a good employee at their company and why you want to work for them. Do not give him any reasons to discriminate you. If you have a gap on your C.V. because you took time off to have a baby, explain this only if he asks.Your personal life has nothing to do with why or why not you are qualified for the job. Explain what makes you a good employee, explain what you want out of the position and how that can be successful for the company. Becoming a teenage parent does not make you unqualified for a job, so dont let it. And, of course, good luck!

right now i work for a bank that only pays me 10hr. i cant pay all my bill with that.can some one plz give me some adivce on where to look for a new job?i have 3 years in customer service 1 year in sales. i have my GED and im bilingual. i just need help looking for a job that pays more... helppp

or can I keep my polish on as long as its not chipped, or does it matter?
      Answer1:If your nail polish is neutral and they look acceptable then its fine. If they are anything out of the ordinary (ie not french polished or very light in colour) then you should take it off.
      Answer2:I think it is better to be understated at an interview. Clear nail polish is best if you feel you wish to wear it, however if it is a food environment, it is probably best to have nude nails as it would be considered a contaminent.You need to look professional, not as though you are ready for a night out, and the interviewer should be listening to what you have to say, not be wondering why you have worn inappropriate polish on your nails.Best of luck with your interview.

      Answer1:Yes, they will check and it will hurt your chances. To get around it dont list that job on your application or if you do, you can use a family member or friends contact info as your supervisor. Just give them a heads up first so they can expect the call;) Good luck!!

I need a letter of reference from my previous employer for a job Im applying for but there was some bad feeling when I left last year. I was employed on a 6 month contract but for good reason decided to give a weeks notice (stated in my contract) and leave 2 weeks early. They were not happy and didnt even speak to me on my last day of employment. I have asked them for a letter of reference and I need to know where I stand and what I can do if they refuse or I am given a lame one i.e She was adequate in her job. Which to be honest is very undeserved as I was excellent at what I did, and had a good relationship with my employers until I left early.Are there any legal eagles who can help me?       Answer2:Usually employers will only give a reference to another employer, so if you get another job they will apply for it. Your previous employer cannot say anything bad about you in the reference, its usually just tick boxes. They can however not send a reference, but you are not going to know until you are offered another job.Good luck.
      Answer3:Im not sure which country you are in. But Ive worked in a few countries and it seems to be standard that employers will either choose to write you a reference or choose to be called. Some bigger companies have policies where only a statement of attainment ( a statement with your dates of work and your role title) is provided. So if its a big company, contact HR for a statement of attainment. If not, you can ask a recruitment agent to call for a reference for you, see what the employer says. You can just say to new employers, the job was great, loved it, but it was only temp. When I gave notice to leave, the boss turned nasty. Which was disapointing as Id enjoyed my time there but there was no room for growth, so I decided to move on.

I dont know how people are supposed to manage on minimum wages,irregular hours, no sick pay, insecurity of employment, and by the time you pay travelling expenses to get there you are out of pocket. Things will get better if they dont Britain, Ireland and the rest of Western Europe are screwed.Just have to stay positive, i seen some positive signs a few weeks ago at the airport. Normally the place was full of immigrants coming in, this time they were all outbound. Thats good for eastern Europe their economy is strong so now maybe we can get down to the serious business of trading goods not people.
